Questions About Porcelain Veneers
What are porcelain veneers?
Veneers are thin, custom-made covers for the front surfaces of unsightly teeth. They are custom-crafted by a master ceramist from tooth-colored dental porcelain and permanently bonded to the teeth.
Some porcelain veneers look fake and discolored. How do I know this won’t happen to me?
Due to the popularity of veneers some dentists offer them without the training necessary to produce beautiful results. Or they use inferior materials. The reason you see these poor results more often than beautiful veneers is that naturally beautiful cosmetic dentistry is not easily visible. It blends with the natural teeth and does not draw attention to itself as dental work. Beautiful veneers just look like a beautiful smile.
Dr. Kleive uses only the highest quality materials to create your veneers, and has a deep understanding of the subtle details that make each tooth unique. He also works closely with Mr. Dave Chermak, a certified dental technologist who has his business within the same office building. Dave will meet you in person before he creates your veneers.
Do you offer Lumineers?
Lumineers, like MAC veneers or da Vinci veneers are brand names of veneers. You may have seen advertising on TV, in a magazine or on the web for Lumineers. However, porcelain veneers should not be selected on brand name alone. Lumineers are a common term because of the amount of advertising and education offered. But, more importantly than the brand of veneer, the needs of your mouth, and the experience of the dentist should play a larger part in how you choose to address your smile.
What types of problems will porcelain veneers solve?
Veneers can solve many problems at once including:
Are there alternatives to porcelain veneers?
Yes. Dr. Kleive will discuss the alternatives with you and help you decide which solution will create the results you desire. This will depend on your overall goals and the condition of your smile. You might find that a professional tooth whitening will achieve your goals. In some cases dental bonding is just as good for filling small gaps or chips. Perhaps crowns might be a better alternative than veneers, depending on what the flaws are that need attention.
What are the main advantages of porcelain veneers?
They are non-invasive and require only two office visits. They can solve multiple problems in one solution, reducing the number of procedures required to create your beautiful smile. If they are an appropriate solution for you, they can save you money and time in the dentist’s chair, as well as being very easy on your teeth.
